We took a lunch up to a campground in Leeds this Sunday. I love that we are only minutes away from the mountains. The boys shot their BB guns and we ran into this tree they call the "Bee Tree." It is about 4 1/2 ft. wide but only the outer 6-8 inches are still living. The inside is completely hollow from lightning damage and full of honey bees. It has survived a number of wildfires, and in fact the top is gone, burnt off. This tree is approximately 600 years old, one of the oldest trees in the area. It has been around longer than our constitution or the Mayflower. This tree is not the prettiest tree but it has a lot of history and a heart as sweet as honey.
